A 16 year old high school student was baptized during a football outing this week sponsored by the football coach and approved by the schools superintendent. The coach, as a school official and in a position of authority took the kids to a Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church where the boy and several others were baptized, some without their parent knowledge, or their prior consent.
Abuse of position, trust, and the use of authority to coerce children to perform acts they are not old enough to consent to... sounds pretty creepy to me. That's likely why Michelle and Dannie Ammons, parents of Robert Coffey, are sptifire angry at the school, the coach, the church and I assume a bunch of other people involved.
Well, never let it be said that we at Debaptized.com turn our backs on those in pain. Some of us are parents as well, and can understand the shock and horror of sending your sane and good child off to football, only to have him return twisted and scarred by such a barbaric ritual. The knowledge of that stain can be unbearable.
To easy the poor families hearts, we have gone ahead and performed the rite of Debaptism on the boy. Robert is now free. Free to live a normal life without the fear that an immaterial soul being beholden to some invisible superguy who wishes to force his will upon us all.
Robert is also free to have himself re-baptized, if he so chooses, but we're hopeful he will make the right choice. In addition, as an act of charity and mercy, we have debaptized the coach, Scott Mooney, the superintendent, Janet Meeks, and the church pastor, Ron Davis. We are nothing, if not magnanimous.
Good Luck, Robert. Michelle and Dannie, you're welcome! You have your son back.
